A Cab Supreme

CABERNET SAUVIGNON | WASHINGTON STATE

87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot

The wine opens with aromas of blue and black fruits, including ripe black plum and cherry, complemented by subtle earthy undertones. One the palate, the tannins are gracefully balanced by concentrated fruit and hints of Herbes de Provence. The mid-palate is robust and structured, leading to a creamy, lingering finish with a touch of minerality. The juicy finish makes it exceptionally food-friendly and presents and intense, rich color in the glass.

95 pts – Keith Beavers, VinePair

“Owner Mike Martin had a life-changing moment in the early aughts that led him to a road trip that ran through Washington’s Walla Walla Valley. He fell in love with the wine and the place, and kept coming back until at one point, he never left. This wine is cozy, big, deep, and soulful. It has a comfortable weight while still showing balance from natural acidity. The nose is welcoming with soft berry aromas along with a lean channel of pepper running through. There’s a slight saline quality that breaks up the heavy fruit.” –Keith Beavers, March 2025

93 pts – Eric Guido, Vinous

“A seductive blend of dried black cherries, violet pastille and sweet spice makes the 2022 A Cab Supreme impossible to ignore. It sweeps across the palate with tart red berry fruits offsetting silky textures, as cooling acidity maintains fantastic freshness under an air of lavender pastille. The 2022 finishes long and structured, leaving hints of licorice and a raspberry concentration. The value here is unprecedented. Drinking window: 2025 – 2032” -Eric Guido, October 2024

93 pts – Jeremy Young, International Wine Report

“The 2022 A Cab Supreme is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Verdot, and 5% Merlot. A captivating fusion of fresh boysenberries, sun-dried blackcurrants, floral violets, and a touch of exotic spice defines the nose, delivering a wine of remarkable allure. Its vibrant acidity harmonizes beautifully with its supple, velvety mouthfeel, while bright red currant and cranberry flavors add energy and contrast. Layers of lavender and dark chocolate emerge on the mid-palate, underscoring its complexity and finesse. The finish lingers impressively, leaving behind whispers of anise and ripe red cherry, all framed by its well-structured, polished tannins.” -Jeremy Young, March 2025

93 pts – Paul Gregutt

“Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with 8% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot in the finished blend. Predominantly Red Mountain fruit, this keeps the tannins proportionate and showcases a mix of raspberries, blackberries and dryland herbs. Lovely structure keeps the wine framed and focused, and it’s not pushed into over-ripe as can happen with Red Mountain fruit. It’s drinking quite well already, but should continue to develop in the bottle over the next decade.” -Paul Gregutt, April 2025

90 pts – Tim Fish, Wine Spectator

“Precise and taut, with pinpoint accents of currant, pencil lead and tobacco that build tension toward firm tannins. Hands off for now. Best from 2026 through 2032.” –Tim Fish, March 2025

90 pts – Clive Pursehouse, Decanter

“A robust Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon with black currant and kirsch aromatics, framed nicely by a mineral graphite tone. The palate brings mouthfuls of black fruits, savoury desert sage and intense baking chocolate into a very structured, tannic finish. 2025 – 2032” -Clive Pursehouse, February 2025
